Today marks the 2-year anniversary of the Digital Task Force for Planning report: A Digital Future for Planning – Spatial Planning Reimagined. Since its release, the report has made a significant impact, garnering attention from readers in 125 countries.

The report has initiated a paradigm shift in how universities and planning practices approach and think about planning in a digital context, both in the UK and internationally. Its innovative perspectives have been recognised by the Geospatial Commission in their Finding Common Ground report.

As an innovation-led social enterprise, the Task Force will build on its achievements and growing influence to unlock the full potential of spatial planning in the digital era. By promoting valuable knowledge sharing as assets for the public good, the Task Force ensures that its research outcomes will be made open source worldwide, acting as a digital ‘National Trust’.

The Task Force is committed to advancing digitalisation in mainstream planning practice and education. It focuses on the ‘Development’ part of R&D to support the establishment of an integrated ecosystem for spatial planning innovation. As we celebrate this milestone, the Task Force continues to pioneer new approaches in digital planning, striving to make a lasting impact on the field.
